This week’s downloadable Nintendo poop 2/16/2012

We already knew the Nintendo 3DS eShop was going to get a demo for Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D this week. That's no surprise. What is a surprise, however, is that the demo isn't the only noteworthy download hitting Nintendo's digital shops.

First and foremost, the Virtual Console is still alive! The Sega Genesis version of Strider has hit the Big N's retro platform, and it you've got a hankering for a solid action title, you can't go wrong with this one. Strider will run you 800 Wii Points.

DSiWare is a bit less interesting, as it's getting iSpot Japan. This "spot the difference" game is priced at 200 DSi Points or $1.99 for the 3DS. I would suggest you save your points, though, and I'll explain why in the following paragraph! (This horrible excuse for a seguey was completely intentional, by the way.)

As previously mentioned, you probably already knew about the Snake Eater 3D demo, and you should definitely check that out. But if you're in the market for some portable bliss with a retro flavor, you can check out the classic NES platformer, Super Mario Bros. That amazingly awesome game has a $4.99 price tag on it, which is completely reasonable. Check it out!
