In THQ’s depressing earnings, investor’s call yesterday, which included the delay of South Park: The Stick of Truth, the publisher revealed that Darksiders II sales were “far below expectations for the quarter.”
The game, which released in mid-August, had sold 1.4 million copies at the end of September. Though THQ did not provide an updated total, we expect that the 1.4 million did not rise significantly due to October’s busy month topped off by Assassin’s Creed 3, Dishonored, and Medal of Honor: Warfighter. The publisher also failed to comment on the future of the Darksiders series, as some may be anticipating a third installment announced.
The lack of sales for Darksiders II is mildly depressing due to the fact that it was great game. It currently sits at a 83 on Metacritic and featured several 9 and above scores from sites like GameInformer.
