Time has named what it believes to be the top 100 video games of all time — a list that includes both Hunt the Wumpus and Pong, from the same era.
Never heard of Hunt the Wumpus? The text-based game, originally written in BASIC, released in 1972 and is just as revolutionary as Pong and Space Invaders, according to Time.
I'm not so sure, but I haven't played it. And I'm not likely to after this description: "The player navigated by his or her senses: sniffing for the stench of the wumpus, feeling for the breeze emitted by dangerous pits, looking for the glitter of gold."
Time did list a lot of good ones: The Legend of Zelda, Deus Ex, Final Fantasy VII. But less believable is Rock Band and Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Louge Lizards — at least comparatively.
Or, even worse, Wii Sports.
