Although visual novel/heavy story-telling games have yet to excel on anything other than handheld devices, Level-5’s newest mystery game Time Travelers should give pending 3DS owners plenty of hope that the genre will continue on Nintendo’s upcoming portable.
Penned by Jiro Ishii, the scenario writer behind 428 on the PS3/Wii, who will also be serving as the director for the game alongside Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino who will be producing. The story revolves around Skeleton and Mikoto Shinmichi, two characters who can see the future. Noted as a “time travel suspense” story, this will be the first time Level-5 releases a heavy-story suspense game. With this, as well as the announcement for Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, it looks like adventure lovers may have plenty to cheer for on the 3DS.
