Timegate Studios is developing a new F2P shooter for all you old-school gamers

Timegate Studios, a co-developer of Aliens: Colonial Marines, is back. This time, they aren't cleaning up the mess supposedly leftover by Gearbox. Rather, they are fully developing their own free-to-play shooter, Minimum.

"What started as a beautiful artistic vision has blossomed into an exciting shooter that we’ve been pouring our hearts and souls into, and now we get to share our passion with all of you," the team wrote on the game's blog.

Minimum is described as a "different type of game," one that "harkens back to old-school classics like Contra and Raiden," in that your weapons gain increased power as you pick up energy left behind by the enemies you've defeated. Weaponry in Minimum is more than just your basic assault rifle and machine gun; they are designed to be "unique." Some examples include an exploding ice-sniper to burning dual-wield katanas — each with five PowerUp levels and unique alt fires.

In the game, two giant titans battle to death, with you and your team fighting alongside to determine the winner. Check out the gameplay video below and let us know what you think in the comments section.

Minimum is being developed for PC only. On April 16, it will be available on Steam's Early Access Channel.
