tinyBuild unveils rhythmic puzzle-platformer for 2016

Roll out!

This afternoon, tinyBuild pulled back the curtain on one of multiple projects they're juggling concurrently for 2016: a puzzle-platformer by the name of Road to Ballhalla. Developed in collaboration with Torched Hill, Road to Ballhalla channels both classic marble-rolling games like Marble Madness, as well as modern treatments like Super Monkey Ball and Kororinpa: Marble Mania for a puzzle game about maze navigation — with a rhythmic twist.

As the debut trailer demonstrates with its collage of musically-timed failures, in-game obstacles (which range from lasers to floor traps) and sound effects operate in tune with the game's soundtrack, making Road to Ballhalla as focused on reflexes as it is on intuition. Such variables could make for a frantic experience — or a serene one, with the potentially diffusing power of the game's witty text-based commentary.

Road to Ballhalla, with its futuristic aesthetic and light comedic vibes, looks to be guided by inventive design and will draw in its own crowd of musically aided puzzle-solvers when it releases on Steam in a few months.
