Titanfall 2 gets new trailer, details on 1v1 Coliseum mode accessible through Mountain Dew and Doritos

Video games leveraging popular brands to promote themselves is nothing new, but Titanfall 2 has partnered with Mountain Dew and Doritos to bring players an all-new mode for the series called Coliseum. Coliseum is a 1v1 Pilot deathmatch mode that takes place in a sumo-wrestling-esque ring, where the winner is determined by best-of-two-out-of-three. The winner of the match unlocks something called "Advocate Gifts" which are mostly "rare Camos, Callsigns, and more."

So, how do you gain access to the Coliseum mode? That's where Mountain Dew and Doritos come in.

There is a form of currency known as Coliseum Tickets that are used for entry. Tickets can be acquired by purchasing specially marked Mountain Dew drinks or Doritos bags, which will provide the player with a code to redeem a ticket. Buffalo Wild Wings will also be running promotions to let players unlock tickets, so there's more than one way to gain access.

If you don't wish to use the ticket to play in the Coliseum, you can use the code to redeem extra multiplayer XP, and a chance to get personalization items for your Titan.

Now, before you go crying "paywall corporate evil" around the internet, just know that you can unlock Coliseum tickets simply by playing multiplayer. The Mountain Dew and Doritos promotions are just something extra.

Update:

EA confirmed this in a statement:

"Anyone can earn Coliseum tickets just by playing multiplayer, but they are also available through the Mountain Dew and Buffalo Wild Wings promotions."

Chances are, many of you are going to be consuming one or the other anyway. So you might as well take advantage of the free Coliseum Tickets.
