Titanfall 2 reveals new details on its upcoming free DLC

It's been tested, but Respawn has remained true to their promise. Every single post-launch DLC for Titanfall 2 will be free, and the company has just released some details on the latest one that is set to hit all platforms in February. Live Fire Mode is the highlight here, and its designer, Griffin Dean explained how it would all work in a new post on the Titanfall website.

He said:

"Live Fire is a fast-paced round-based 6v6 pilot only elimination mode. Each round gives players only 60 seconds to eliminate the enemy team or take control of the neutral flag. The team that holds the neutral flag when the timer runs out wins the round regardless of how many players they've lost. Knowing how and when to pick up the flag is a core aspect of the mode's meta."

Live Fire's creation was apparently inspired by paintball speed matches, says Dean. Speed and momentum are the two most important aspects as the conflict is constant with few avenues for evasion. Dean continued saying, "You have to advance against the enemy, attack aggressively without hesitation, and make split second decisions that can make or break your team's victory."

Live Fire's maps are meant to be memorized as controlled sight-lines, choke points, and flank routes make up the prominent design features of each one. Dean says that since you will (should) know where your opponents are coming from, the important thing is being able to flank them before they flank you. Speed and careful aggression are rewarded in this mode.

Titanfall 2 is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
