Titanfall studio co-founder forms new mobile game studio, Nuclear Division

Vince Zampella, co-creator of Call of Duty and co-founder of Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment, has partnered with Larry Pacey, former product head of slot machine maker WMS, to form a new mobile game studio. According to Venturebeat, the two decided to form the new studio, Nuclear Division, to "test the waters for some new ideas in game development."

Nuclear Division currently has less than a dozen employees, but Pacey said it could grow to about 50 over time. The studio will be based in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, near Respawn Entertainment's headquarters. Zampella's role in Nuclear Division is described more as that of an "investor, advisor and board member." He will continue his main duties as head of Respawn Entertainment.

Though no games were actually revealed yet, the focus will be on "new opportunities to build community across multiple games," according to Venturebeat.

“The goal is to build the kind of product that Vince and I know,” Pacey said. “It is based on things we like, and is more for the core gamer. If you look at our careers, we like to find new players experiences that are differentiated and unique.”

The first games from Nuclear Division are expected to release in about a year or so.
