We recently reported that The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 were delisted from the Nintendo eShop on Wii U. That comes to no real surprise, as those games were, let's face it, not good.
But we've also learned that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan was also delisted from all digital storefronts including Steam, PlayStation Store and Xbox Live. TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan, for those who don't know, was also kind of a pile of garbage. Besides being terrible games, The Amazing Spider-Man and TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan also have another thing in common. They were both published by Activision.
Back in the days of the Xbox 360, Activision was well known for producing terrible licensed games, usually tie-ins to movies that released the same year. Sure, there were other games they would publish that were much better, but it was held up on a foundation of terribly represented superhero games and the like.
Now it makes a lot of sense that Activision would lose the rights, or at least let the licence to make these games expire, but to have them delisted and not even attempt to keep them up for posterity shows just how much they care about their licensed games, but what question it really raises is if Activision is finally done producing licensed games like this.
