To the Moon going to Steam

To the Moon was hailed as a truly outstanding story game. Yes, this was a downloadable title with pretty graphics and all the makings of a video game, but it was also an impressive piece of storytelling. The game was so impressive that it took the number seven spot on GameZone's top 10 indie games of 2011 list.

To the Moon boldly goes where not many games dare go: it explores deep plot devices and features a fully realized story that makes it what some may argue more of a narrative experience than an actual video game.

Previously, To the Moon was released by developer Freebird Games. Now, though, the indie hit is landing on Steam. The announcement was made by creator Ken Gao on his Twitter account, and I'm certain this will please plenty of indie game aficionados.

Don't worry, though. If you already downloaded the game and you're afraid you won't be able to add it to your snazzy Steam library without having to purchase it again, you'll be glad to know that gamers who already purchased the game will get a key allowing them to download it on Steam.

While a specific release date has yet to be announced, Gao hopes to have To the Moon on Steam within the next couple of months. Additionally, the developer plans on releasing the game for Mac, too. It's great seeing indie games landing on multiple platforms and download services. Here's hoping the audience of To the Moon increases more with the move to Steam.
