Todd McFarlane confirms Spawn film script is complete

"Spawn's back and there's only one"

After rumors of  Spawn making a comeback for a while now, Todd McFarlane has announced he is officially making a new film and hopes to start production this year! (I need to Woo-sa or something to calm down)

McFarlane is a staple at fairs and cons all over. In fact, I met him personally this past October at NYCC. At the most recent New York Toy Fair, he spoke with Comicbook.com and fired the announcement heard round the world – "Spawn's back". Macfarlane stated that he has already completed the script for his newest Spawn film and hopes to start production this year.

"I've finished the script, and I'm in the process of editing. It's 183 pages, and [producers] usually like 120. I still think it's going to end up being about 140, because I'm putting in details for myself."

As indicated by the last part of his remark, McFarlane also hopes to direct the film himself. He continued by saying "I want to keep it small, keep it tight, so they'll let me direct it!" I need to get him back up on the big screen again to make him relevant in a big way, which we will do," he said. McFarlane hopes to start production this year, so this editing process will allow him to start hiring actors for the film as well.

The last Spawn film starring John Leguizamo (Uggh, don't remind me) didn't fair to well in theaters and functions as "that of which we do not speak" to fans. A Spawn film has been sought after for a long time now by fans, and Spawn has garnered more steam as of late, even with McFarlane himself indicating he was very nearly in Mortal Kombat X. Hopefully this film can take advantage of the advancements in technology and effects in order to bring Spawn to life
