The Top Gun 2 rumor mill is picking up a bit of steam this week thanks to a curious Tweet sent out by mega producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
He sent out a picture of him meeting up with Tom Cruise in New Orleans, which you can check out below.

The long gestating sequel has been on the rumor mill for years now, most recently after Iceman himself Val Kilmer sent out a Facebook message saying he got offered a part in Top Gun 2 without reading the script.
Cruise has previously mentioned he's open to the idea of doing a sequel. In 2014 news also came out that Jungle Book screenwriter Justin Marks penned a script for a potential Top Gun 2, which featured an older Maverick taking on the threat of an increasingly dangerous drone warfare.
This is probably the best piece of news that Top Gun 2 could soon be a reality. Sadly, the recent passing of director Tony Scott is a tough obstacle to overcome, but with confirmation that Cruise and Bruckheimer are at least talking about the project, it's better than nothing.
Cruise will have a busy slate of films ahead of him. He's currently filming a sequel to Jack Reacher, and is set to take on a modern-day reboot of The Mummy franchise. He's also going to be busy with another Mission Impossible film soon.
But if anyone can take on the challenge, it's Maverick.
