Tom Cruise open to the idea of Top Gun 2, but under one condition

I feel the need...

Top Gun Tom Cruise

With Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation making its theatrical debut this week, everyone wants to know what's next for the film's star, Tom Cruise. How about Top Gun 2? We've heard rumors of Cruise possibly reprising his role as the hot shot flying ace Maverick, but at the premiere of his new film, the 53-year-old actor finally set the record straight.

"I have not thought about it. We haven't turned our eye to it. I don't know," Cruise told Extra. "Jerry and I, we talked about it, and I just.. I don't know."

That being said, Tom Cruise does at least seem open to the idea of taking to the skies once more in a Top Gun sequel.

"If I can figure it out, if all of us can figure it out, it'd be fun to do, I'd like to fly those jets again," Tom Cruise said, adding one stipulation: "But we got to do all the jets practical. No CGI on the jets… I'm saying right now no CGI on the jets. If we can figure all that out, and the Department of Defense will allow us to do it, that would be fun."

Of course, there's one other issue that Cruise pointed out. "We gotta figure the story out."

Come on, Tom, is anyone watching Top Gun for the story, or that awkward romance between Maverick and Charlie to the background track of "Take My Breath Away"? No, we're watching for the high speed jets, the saucy pilots and, of course, the volleyball scene. Ah yes, that volleyball scene. *swoons*
