Tom Hardy’s role in Star Wars: Episode VIII revealed

Mad Max will be having a small role in a galaxy far, far away. After rumors began to circle a few days ago, MakingStarWars.net has confirmed that the rumors are indeed true, but Hardy's role will be a small one. Here are the details for Hardy's appearance.

• Tom Hardy plays a First Order stormtrooper.
• Hardy sees Finn (or FN-2187 as he was previously known) on a secret mission but doesn’t know it.
• The “incognito” Finn is surprised when Hardy walks up behind him and slaps him on the ass.
• Finn turns around, thinking he’s in deep trouble.
• Hardy is elated to see his old friend from back during their First Order academy days.
• The stormtrooper congratulates a confused Finn on his promotion to Resistance infiltrator and spy.
• FN-2187 is free to go about his business to his amazement.

It's interesting that we are seeing a different perspective here in regards to what we know about the event of The Force Awakens. MakingStarWars theorizes that the troops that were killed in the Starkiller Base explosion were perhaps the only ones that knew of Finn's betrayal.

The First Order might be keeping a tight lip on the events of the previous movie out of fear of dissent among the ranks. Hardy's role sounds like it will be brief, but it will be important in the sense that he is conveying a different angle than what the audience knows to be true.

Star Wars Episode 8 still doesn't have an official name, but we do know that it is about half way finished filming and it will feature the return of a few of our old favorites.
