Tom Hardy’s ‘Venom’ might introduce She-Venom

Filming for the upcoming Venom movie starring Tom Hardy began filming earlier this year in October. Details on the film have not yet been revealed, but there have been plenty of rumors.

Riz Ahmed has been rumored to be playing the role of Carnage and Michelle Williams’ role has been thought to be Anne Weying.

Williams has seemingly confirmed her casting in an interview with Screen Rant. According to Williams, she will be playing Anne Weying. The role was heavily rumored but never confirmed prior to this interview.

Screen Rant: Is Venom comparable to anything else you’ve done previously, and what can you tell us about Anne Weying?

Michelle Williams: I’ve done one other movie where I was asked to track a tennis ball with my eyes and pretend it was a giant creature thing. Not my favorite thing in the world to do, but it is a skill set and I’m trying to learn it. And uh, she’s, geez, what can I tell you? Not too much right now.

Anne Weying is Eddie Brock’s (Venom) ex-wife who eventually with the symbiote. In the comics, Weying helps Spider-Man (who will not be featured in the Venom movie) track Brock down. Later on, Weying is targeted by a serial killer (Sin-Eater) who shoots her. In order to save her life, Brock’s Venom symbiote bonds with Weying and turns her into She-Venom (also known as The Bride of Veon). Weying eventually commits suicide after taking the lives of countless people as She-Venom.

How Sony will write this character into the film has not been revealed. It is possible that Venom will introduce Weying to the series and follow her She-Venom plotline in other films.

Venom is set to release on October 5th, 2018.
