Ever since his debut in Captain America: Civil War, people have been in love with Tom Holland's portrayal of everyone's favorite webhead. He's witty, agile, doesn't look like he's thirty-years-old, and he manages to capture everything that fans love about Spider-Man.
There has been some question of how long he'll stay in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though. Sony and Marvel struck a deal a few years ago to allow Spider-Man to join the MCU but Sony still has the rights to the character. There were even some talks that Spider-Man may go back to Sony completely after his solo sequel in the summer of 2019.
Speaking in an interview with French website Allocine, Tom Holland accidentally spilled the beans on how many solo movies Spider-Man has left.
"There is still plenty of room to see Peter Parker and especially Spider-Man grow up in the next two movies”
Just for clarification, Tom Holland confirmed that was what he meant but it sounds like he wasn't really supposed to say that.
"Yes, there will be Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming 3… Now, you know, sorry, Marvel, oops!”
Marvel has expressed interest in doing a Harry Potter-like style of movies for Spider-Man, one movie represents one year of his high school life. If Peter is a freshman now, it would mean they'd need to do four movies total to fully commit to that formula. Maybe if this movie does really well, they'll commit to it!
