Tom Holland ‘passionate’ about Uncharted movie, unsure if it will ‘work out’

Back in May it was revealed that Spider-Man's new Peter Parker, actor Tom Holland, would be taking the role of young Nathan Drake in the upcoming Uncharted movie. At the time of the announcement, no writer had been set to recreate the film's story, which was detailed to be focusing on Drake's origins.

Tom Holland sat down with JOE.ie in a video interview prior to Spider-Man: Homecoming's release, where he established his passion for the Uncharted film. Unfortunately, his passion came with a warning that the film might not 'work out.'

"The idea is to make an origin story for Nathan Drake, something we haven’t really seen since the games take place later in his life, but at the moment this is just a conversation. I sat down with Tom Rothman and we sort of came up with this idea, and I sat down with Shawn Levy to talk about this idea, and believe me, this is something I’m very passionate about, that I would love to do, but it just depends if it’s going to work out."

Hopefully the Uncharted movie makes it out into the real world – that movie has been in development hell for too long.

Prior to this announcement, writer Joe Carnahan spoke (at length) on the script he wrote for Uncharted detailing it as an R-rated script and that it would not be a straight Indiana Jones ripoff. On top of that, Naughty Dog, the developer behind the series, has commented that they have not seen the "beast" of a script.

It's unclear whether the Uncharted film is looking to work off of that script or start from scratch entirely.
