Many moons ago, an Uncharted movie entered development with Mark Wahlberg as Nathan Drake. After many failed attempts to get the movie going, Marky Mark aged out of the role and was replaced by Tom Holland. The Spider-Man star began filming the Uncharted film about a month ago and now we have our first look at his Nathan Drake.
It looks very in line with the PlayStation icon, though on the younger side. He’s decked out in his signature Henly and cargo pants as well as Francis Drake’s ring. As for where young Nate is, it appears he’s on some sort of wrecked pirate ship. The original Nathan Drake, Nolan North, visited the set and has given his official approval of Holland for the Uncharted movie.

Amy Hennig, the creative director of the first three Uncharted, also expressed some approval. The former Naughty Dog developer tweeted “Sic Parvis Magna” (Greatness from small beginnings) with a heart. Uncharted 4’s director, Neil Druckmann, has not commented on the new photo. He and Holland did have a chat in September, though it’s unclear if he visited the set. Druckmann has expressed disapproval over previous early iterations of the Uncharted film.
The plot of the Uncharted movie remains under wraps as of right now. The film will star Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg as Sully, though he’s missing his mustache. Antonio Banderas will also be in the film in an unknown role. Zombieland and Venom director Ruben Fleischer will helm the film.
Uncharted will release on July 16th, 2021.
