Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition PS4 sales double Xbox One in UK

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, the "next-gen" re-release of Crystal Dynamics' Tomb Raider reboot enjoyed a successful launch on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One last week. Despite a slow month for video game releases, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition claimed the top spot in GfK Chart-Track's UK software sales. It replaces EA's FIFA 14 as the number one overall seller for the week.

While the chart is reflective of all formats, apparently the PS4 version heavily outsold the Xbox One version, perhaps because of the noticable differences in performance between the two. Whatever the case, data shows that 69 percent of Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition's sales came from the PS4 version, meaning it outsold its Xbox One counterpart by more than double. Though it should be noted that GfK reflects sales in the UK where the PS4 has likely outsold the Xbox One in terms of overall units.

Personally, I don't think Square Enix cares where the sales come from as long as they come. The last-gen version was labeled "financially unsatisfactory" by the publisher, despite sales surpassing three million copies shortly after launch.
