We finally have a few details on the upcoming Tomb Raider movie reboot! According to the latest details, the film will be set prior to her adventures in the Tomb Raider reboot game from 2013.
Producer Graham King commented on the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot while interviewing with Hey U Guys for his upcoming movie titled Allied:
“Well, this is kind of what we call a ‘back to the roots story’. This is a young Lara Croft in search to see if her father is dead or alive, so it has a very emotional part to it and I think that’s what Alicia found so interesting about it. I think the storytelling is really good and I think we’ve got the right crew and a great director and I think it’s going to be really fun making a film like this”.
Alicia Vikander, of Ex Machina, won the role from Star Wars: The Force Awakens star, Daisy Ridley, who had been rumored to be in talks for the role of Lara Croft. Anyone who adores the Tomb Raider franchise will be happy to hear that Vikander actually played Tomb Raider at least once in her life.
Warner Bros and MGM have dated the film to release on March 16, 2018.
