DK Publishing today revealed Lara Croft’s next novel, Tomb Raider: The Ten Thousand Immortals, authored by Dan Abnett and Nik Vincent.
The Ten Thousand Immortals will pick up with the conclusion of Square Enix’s 2013 reimagining of the Tomb Raider franchise. “Haunted by what she was forced to endure in order to survive her first adventure, Lara Croft wants only to put her horrifying ordeal on Yamatai Island behind her,” the publisher said. “Her modest wish shatters as she’s plunged into a frantic race to saver her best friend Sam from a toxic overdose.
“Desperate for a remedy, Lara searches for anything that could help Sam. A wisp of hope arising from a myth gives Lara purpose: the story of an ancient and mysterious artifact that could heal her dying friend, and possibly help explain the supernatural events she witnessed on Yamatai.”
As you might expect, Lara’s novel quest won’t be without more than a few baddies. “A nefarious magnate, a shadow society, and lethal henchmen” will once again stand in her way when the novel releases this October. How it may connect to the recently announced Rise of the Tomb Raider remains to be seen.
Author Dan Abnett has won multiple awards as a novelist and comic-book writer. His most prominent work in the games industry includes contributions to Alien: Isolation and Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. His partner, Nik Vincent, began work as a freelance editor but has written in several mediums and industries.
