Tomb Raider port coming to PS4 and Xbox One?

The Tomb Raider reboot which was released for Xbox 360 and PS3 earlier this year could be ported to Xbox One and PS4. As discovered by Siliconera, the game has been rated in Brazil for both next-gen systems.

No other details are offered, so at this point it's nothing but speculation; however, as the website notes, Tomb Raider hasn't received any sort of "Game of the Year" editions. These are typically released by publishers with the game and all of its downloadable content included in one boxed version of the game.

Square Enix has been quite blunt about its disappointment in the sales of Tomb Raider. Despite selling more than 4 million copies worldwide (as of August 2013), the publisher has called the game "financially unsatisfactory."

Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda said at the time that while he believed the game was successful "from a development perspective," the publisher "experienced great difficulties in price control from a marketing perspective."

"We had to expend considerable incentive programs offered to retailers such as price protection, back-end rebates, and promotional cooperation costs, which generated a certain level of shipment quantity but with lower margins than expected," he explained.

Perhaps Square Enix is hoping a port to Xbox One and PS4 will boost sales for the game which under performed at release. Would you be interested in a next-gen version of Tomb Raider?
