It was confirmed in April that the Star Wars: The Force Awakens star, Daisy Ridley, who had been rumored to be in talks for the Lara Croft role in the Tomb Raider reboot would not be getting the role. Instead, the Ex Machina star, Alicia Vikander, had won the role.
Luckily for everyone anticipating the reboot, Vikander actually played Tomb Raider at some point in her life. Vikander is no stranger to action, she won an Oscar for her performance in The Danish Girl and gained plenty of regard for her role in Ex Machina.
It looks like we won't being seeing Vikander as Lara Croft until she's done filming the next Bourne movie.
It appears as though we will have to wait a couple of months before we even see a Tomb Raider trailer, let alone the film release. Warner Bros and MGM have dated the film to release on March 16, 2018. Oddly enough, this date was previously rumored to be the date for the DC Comics movie, The Flash, but the comic-based movie has yet to get an official date.
