Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 gets new trailer

Remember the Warehouse level from the original Tony Hawk Pro Skater?  The level that introduced everything that would go on to be great about the game all the to the addictively great song Superman by Goldfinger? Many gamers who were young around the early 2000's know exactly what I'm talking about, and probably played that level a couple hundred times.  Tony Hawk Pro Skater hasn't had an true sequel since October 2002, so to say that a new game is long overdue would be an understatement.

A new trailer showcasing the game, it's development team and the Tony Hawk himself was recently posted to the Playstation YouTube channel.  The video is a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the game, featuring a variety of pro skaters all reflecting on their youth, playing the original games, and what it means to be a part of this new project.

The developers also take their time to explain what the original games meant to their childhood as well as how they are adapting what made the originals so great with expectations for modern gaming.  A "Slam" mechanic is being introduced which allows the player to automatically grind to any surface.  The idea behind this feature is that it will streamline the player's movement and makes everything go much faster.  The developers are also capitalizing on the popularity of player-driven content, and are including a very in-depth but intuitive course creator with a plethora of tools to make some insane environments.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 will be heading to Playstation 4, Xbox One, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 sometime in the near future, but no official release date has been given.
