One of the most defining series from the 1990s is coming back in the form of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2. The collection contains two full remakes from the PlayStation 1 originals and is slated to launch this September 4th for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Check out some sick moves in the announcement trailer below!
The name Tony Hawk might not mean much to younger generations these days but back in the radical 1990s, the name alone was a synonym for cool, hip and trendy lifestyle… and of course skateboarding. The titular Tony Hawk is a rare specimen in the extreme sports and became also legendary in gaming with excellent licensed games.
But a lot happened in the following two decades and tastes changed. Skateboarding is still a popular hobby but to nowhere near the extent as popular as in the 1990s. Likewise, games featuring the sport also became all but a niche with the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater being a shadow of its former self.
-Skate as the legendary Tony Hawk and the full pro roster
-Skate to songs from the era-defining soundtrack
-Hit insane trick combos with the iconic handling of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series
-Play all the original game modes and go head-to-head with local 2-Player modes
-Show off your style and creativity with upgraded Create-A-Park and Create-A-Skater features
-Take your sessions online and compete against players from around the world in multiplayer modes and leaderboards
So, what better way to rejuvenate the genre than with the OG itself? That’s exactly what’s going to happen this September with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2. If you somehow didn’t already get it from the name, it will include the first two games of the series. These two, in particular, were huge hits back in the PlayStation 1 era and became synonymous with the console itself for millions of gamers. In a heart-warming turn of events, the collection was unveiled on the very birthday of the game’s poster boy, Tony Hawk himself.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 will launch this September 4th on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Later will be exclusively available through the Epic Games Store.
