As Paramount Pictures pushes ahead with the Top Gun sequel, they have announced that Tron Legacy director, Joseph Kosinski is helming the film which will launch on July 12th, 2019 as reported by Deadline. Tom Cruise, who previously confirmed the film earlier this year, returns as Maverick who is now a flight instructor teaching young pilots the ropes.
Jerry Bruckheimer returns to his role as Producer, while Peter Craig, Justin Marks, Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz pen the script.
Top Gun 2 has been talked about for years, with Tom Cruise pinning his return on the condition that the jets used in the film being practical effects and not CGI. We will see if Cruise gets his wish.
