Torchlight III comes to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One this month

Developer Echtra Inc. has announced that Torchlight III will be leaving Early Access in two weeks and launch fully on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Together with the launch, the PC version will see a price increase to $39.99.

It’s very common for Early Access games to receive a price hike after the departure of their Early Access program, and with a fairly budget price of 40 Dollars it’s even more digestible. But will that alone help turn around the disappointing reception among players remains to be seen.

When it was first revealed that the free-to-play spin-off Torchlight Frontiers was being redesigned into a proper sequel in the hack and slash series, fans were initially thrilled. It had been a long eight years since the second one came out after all.

The full release of Torchlight III wouldn’t have been possible without all of the incredible work from the entire Echtra team and our excellent community of Early Access players. We’ve put our heart into this new adventure and it has been awesome getting so much support from players while the game has been in live development. With the significant changes we’ve made throughout Torchlight III’s journey in Early Access, we have done our best to meaningfully integrate players’ feedback as much as possible into the game as we march toward launch.

Torchlight III’s Early Access period highlighted that transitioning a F2P into a traditional one isn’t as easy as one might think though. Thousands of players voiced their disappointment at what they feel isn’t a proper Torchlight III.

Nonetheless, console players are soon getting their chance to experience this light-hearted and fast-paced dungeon crawler on their gaming platforms. While the majority of platforms will get the game on October 14th, Nintendo Switch owners will have to wait a little while longer with the company promising to release that version later this year.

PC players who purchase Torchlight III on Steam before the official launch will save an additional $10 before the price increase.
