Torchlight III details customizable forts in new trailer

Home sweet home

Perfect World Entertainment has shared a new gameplay trailer for Torchlight III. This time it’s all about the players’ forts which are highly customizable fortresses that can be adjusted to your liking. Watch the trailer here!

Torchlight III was unveiled early this year and is actually a complete redesign of Torchlight Frontier. Originally intended to become a free-to-play spin-off from the popular hack-and-slash franchise, player feedback during the alpha testing resulted in the developer taking the drastic measure to change their vision.

With the resurgence of the hack-and-slash genre reaching new heights, thanks to great representations like Path of Exile and Grim Dawn, one of the seasoned names got the chance to once again become a major player in the scene. And then there’s the juggernaut Diablo franchise of course. Not only has it managed to stay relevant thanks to recent console ports, but the announcement of a proper fourth Diablo has put the genre in the spotlight once more.

Forts are your personal mark on the world. Each will truly be unique and the resources are in your hands. The interior can be customized with a wide variety of cosmetic objects. Plant a lush garden, make a monument to your success, or memorials to the thousands of Goblins that stood in your way. Build a path… or don’t! The choice is yours. Forts are instantly ready to customize when unlocked early in Act I of Torchlight III. But first, you’ll have to claim your Fort from a local Goblin tribe. Experience the thrill of your own pest control adventure!

Today’s new trailer is focusing on a rather whimsical aspect with the introduction of forts. These serve as homes to players which can be designed according to not only their fashion senses but play styles. The great detail about them is the fact that they will be usable across all characters on one account. This way, no matter which unique character you play as, you won’t have to redo all the hard work again.

With a projected release sometime this year, Torchlight III is aiming to launch on Steam initially. We wager console ports will follow at some point down the line, too.
