Total Conversion Operation: Trebuchet brings Halo universe to Arma 3

Fans of Halo and large-scale action games better not miss out on this. The modders behind Operation: Trebuchet, the ambitious Halo total conversion mod for the PC-exclusive military simulator Arma 3, have released a really sweet cinematic trailer. While still in alpha, you can download the mod right now and experience a very different style of FPS action in the iconic Halo universe. Check out the new trailer!

Calling Operation: Trebuchet a mere mod is selling the mod effort by Article 2 Studios criminally short. It’s nothing less than a whole new experience, arguably a new game created within another. As a total conversion for mil-sim Arma 3, the huge mod is offering an entirely new playing field set in the Halo universe.

Weapons, outfits, vehicles, landscapes, sounds and more are all customized and feature a whole new layer of strategy and tactics for Arma 3 players. All the iconic elements of Halo are here and it’s glorious! Those unsure whether they ought to play a fan-made Halo game instead of the real deal on the Xbox One, should take a good look at what and when Operation: Trebuchet really is.

Operation: TREBUCHET (OPTRE) was the last major UNSC offensive against the human insurrection before the first contact with the Covenant empire. Our mod will focus on the struggles of the common soldier rather than the elite spartan warriors, allowing you to experience the Halo universe from a new, brutal perspective.

The modders behind the project have wisely decided to not simply replicate the settings and locales of the console originals but instead chose a lore-authentic pre-Master Chief period. As such, the fight in Operation: Trebuchet isn’t between humans and the Covenant alien race but among the UNSC and the insurrections, a rebel group. This plays also nicely into the strengths of Arma 3’s large combat sandbox.

Operation: Trebuchet is available right now on the Steam Workshop for owners of Arma 3 , making the installation process as easy as clicking a button, and weighs in at a chunky 3.5GB.
