Trailer Details Upgrade System in Skyward Sword

We previously reported that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword would feature RPG elements that would improve Link’s overall stats. Rather than physically improving the green-clad hero, however, it seems the game will instead put emphasis on upping his weaponry. So it’s less of a traditional RPG deal, and more of a Monster Hunter-esque leveling system.

In Skyward Sword, you’ll be able to collect trinkets from fallen foes, and you’ll get the chance to put these goodies to use in an in-game shop. Here you’ll speak to a burly character who seems to know his way with tools, and upon providing him with the necessary items, you’ll be given upgraded weapons. The whole system is incredibly intuitive, and once you see something you may like, you’ll want to collect the required items to up the strength of your arsenal.

Be sure to check out the upgrades trailer for Skyward Sword to get a nice visual. This new RPG element doesn’t seem like anything too daunting, but it certainly looks as if it will add a nice spin on the Zelda formula. I can already see some crazy fans trying to obtain every possible upgrade just to ease their completionist state of mind.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will drop on the Wii on November 20. Watch out for it. So, what do you think of the upgrade system in the game? Leave a comment below and let us know!
