Trails in the Sky: Second Chapter releasing next week

The Legend of Heroes series has been around for a minute. Debuting all the way back in 1989, the series has over 10 games in its main line, including two trilogies,Gagharv and Trails, as well as a couple of spinoff installments to boot.

Last year the first of the Trails trilogy, Trails in the Sky, made its way through the translation process and appeared in the West on PC and next week the Second Chapter will also be following suit on October 29th.

The official website describes the setting as “Ten years after the Hundred Days War, the small country of Liberl was at peace until a coup d'etat instigated within the Royal Army ranks attempted to overthrow Queen Alicia. Thanks to the combined efforts of the Bracer Guild and loyal military personnel, the coup was thwarted and the ringleaders imprisoned. The safety of the kingdom seemed secure, but mysterious events begin happening all over Liberl just as Queen Alicia prepares to solidify the peace between the surrounding nations. In the midst of these strange occurrences, Estelle sets off to find Joshua and unmask the members of the mysterious 'Society' behind the growing unrest.”

Fans of JRPGs are probably already familiar with this franchise. It’s a great throwback to old school approaches to gaming and always comes packed to the gills with narrative and exposition.

Trails in the Sky: Second Chapter releases on Steam and GOG on October 29th.
