It looks like Pokemon Trainers have failed Nintendo and Game Freak once again. After failing the first Global Mission for Pokemon Sun and Moon the second Global Mission was an utter failure. The second Global Mission had Pokemon Trainers capturing or defeating 1 million Pokemon with the Island Scan feature, which can only be used once every 24 hours.
Throughout the event, Nintendo was sharing special QR codes to help players use the feature twice a day. Unfortunately, even with the help from Nintendo, only 661,839 Pokemon were caught – a number that falls short of the goal of 1,000,000 Pokemon captured by quite a bit.
Players who participated in the global mission will still receive some kind of prize, though it won't be the originally promised 2,000 Festival Coins. Instead, players will receive either 217 or 434 Festival Coins, depending on whether they registered their game with the Pokemon Global Link system.
