Tribes: Ascend gets new update with a promise of more to come

"None of us felt good about the state it was left in." These are words from Hi-Rez president Stewart Chisam, regarding the studio’s essential abandonment of Tribes following the launch and success of Smite.

However, Hi-Rez is hoping to change that by releasing a new update, dubbed the Out of the Blue patch, that will address the class system, add maps, and balance out the game.

Chisam notes that while this is the first of several updates that seek to correct issues within the game, he is remaining conservative in Tribes’ ability to recapture its audience stating, “I don't think we'll ever make money off of it,” but Hi-Rez is still allocating enough funds to support a small team full time to its maintenance.

The update is currently playable on a new public test server, which you can find here.
