Tron: Legacy director talks Tron 3

Apparently, there's a script.

There's been a bit of back and forth on whether Tron 3 will be happening. Recently, Jared Leto reignited hope for a third installment in the franchise, after hope was floundering for a few years. Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski has added to Leto's talk of a third movie, offering a bit more details on its current state.

According to Kosinski, Tron: Ascension, the third film in the franchise, made it to the script stage and has been there ever since.

"Jared and I had actually been talking about Tron since Tron: Legacy back in 2009," Kosinski said. "We almost put him in that movie, actually in [the End of Line club scene]! So Jared’s a huge fan and we actually batted around ideas and I was talking to him about that role in Ascension, but we only got to the script stage on that. We never really moved beyond that and that’s sort of where it sits for now."

So, on the bright side, the movie actually has a script, on the other side… nothing has happened with it.
