The Twisted Metal series has been celebrated since its initial release in 1995. Unfortunately, the series has not seen much attention in the past few years. David Jaffe, the creator of the series, has offered an update on the current state of the series, as he knows it.
First and foremost, Jaffe does not own Twisted Metal, Sony does. While Sony has been kind about letting Jaffe know when they are using his properties, he hasn’t heard much of anything as far as Twisted Metal goes.
Jaffe says he would be “stunned” if Sony was working on anything related to Twisted Metal, as making the game work for today’s audience would require a fair amount of money. There’s a chance that the company could do a remaster or HD port in future, but again, it comes down to money and interest.
Twisted Metal Black was one of the top three best-selling PlayStation 2 Classic for PS4 in 2017, so there’s hope that there is enough fan interest in the series to support a port of some sort. Sony is currently working on a Medieval remaster which lends hope to Twisted Metal getting an eventual remaster.
