Two big modding features coming to Dying Light ‘really soon’

In addition to the mix of free and paid DLC for Dying Light, Techland is continuously working to bring PC gamers new modding tools. Speaking to us in a recent interview, producer Tymon Smektala revealed that two "big features" for the modding community are coming soon.

"Our engine and programming wizards are constantly pushing what they can add to the  tools so that’s really cool from their side," Smektala told us. "They’re actually adding 2 big features really soon."

The first is mesh importing which, according to Smektala, "will allow players to import their own objects into the game to interact with — I feel some weird stuff is coming our way."

Smektala is hopeful this feature will be released in "a couple of weeks," but it isn't a sure thing yet. Beyond mesh importing, Techland is also looking to work on multiplayer support in terms of modding.

"Since co-op is a huge part of the Dying Light experience, this is something fans have been asking for quite relentlessly so we gotta give them what they want!"

While he didn't go into specifics, it's neat to see that Techland is so willing to listen to fan feedback and cater to their wishes.

Since its release back in January of this year, Dying Light has been supported with a number of DLC packs, both paid-for and free. Techland just wrapped up Dying Light's Season Pass with the release of its third and final DLC, The Bozak Horde, but the developer plans to continue to support what has become the most popular title in Techland's history.

Last month, Techland announced that its dark fantasy first-person hack n' slash game Hellraid has been put on hold, as the studio begins to shift resources to focus on "further expansions" for Dying Light. We asked Smektala about the possibility of a sequel to Dying Light 2, and while he called it a "no brainer," he said there's nothing to announce at this moment. That being said, the studio plans on attending Gamescom in August "with something cool to show" — perhaps new DLC. In the meantime, Techland is currently running a #DrinkForDLC campaign which promises free DLC for Dying Light.
