Tyrese Gibson is campaigning hard to play Green Lantern

Forget Batman for just a minute. Forget about Dawn of Justice too. Tyrese Gibson, of Fast & Furious fame, is campaigning really hard on his Instagram account to become a better Green Lantern than Ryan Reynolds. Tyrese is sharing photoshopped images of him as Green Lantern that fans are sending him, and they're being shared… a lot.

Ryan Reynolds last played Green Lantern/Hal Jordan in the horrible 2011 Green Lantern film. Tyrese wouldn't be playing Jordan, which is the Green Lantern most people are familiar with, but would be playing John Stewart. Stewart is a former U.S. Marine from Detroit who's the backup Green Lantern for Earth's home sector. He was also the founding member of Warner Bros.' animated Justice League cartoon.

He seems really excited at the idea of playing Green Lantern, and if Idris Elba can't do the role, I wouldn't mind having someone as passionate about Green Lantern as Tyrese get the role. The Green Lantern film is scheduled for a June 19, 2020 release. The Justice League Part One releases on November 17, 2017.
