U.S. Government: ‘The world will not end on December 21, 2012’

Good news everybody, it looks like the world won't end on December 21, 2012. Why? Because the U.S. government says so.

In a post on their blog, the U.S. government sought out to quell the panic set on by false rumors about the end of the world in 2012. As the blog points out, many of the rumors involve the Mayan calendar ending in 2012, a comet causing catastrophic effects, and a hidden planet sneaking up and colliding with us. To all of those rumors, the government says "definitely not."

"The world will not end on December 21, 2012, or any day in 2012," they said matter-of-factly. Well, that's comforting. Aside from giving their word (and a few videos), they didn't offer any substantial backing to their claim. Then again, when have they ever done that?

In all honesty, I don't believe the world will end in 2012. I used to want it to, but only if it ends in a zombie apocalypse which the U.S. government has showed me is entirely possible. Will it happen on December 21, 2012?

No one can say for sure that the world won't end in 2012, or 2013 for that matter. It's comforting to know that when the sh*t goes down, John Cusack will be there to save us all.
