Meeting of Virtual and Reality: EverQuest®
Fan Faire to Be Held in Europe For First Time Ever
PARIS (July 25th,
2001) International publishing powerhouse, Ubi Soft® Entertainment,
announced today that they will be partnering with Sony Online Entertainment to
bring the most successful massively multiplayer online role-playing game to life
for gamers from all over Europe. For the first time ever, EverQuest fans in
Europe will experience a real-life EverQuest Fan Faire. This event will
honor the launch of the third expansion pack, EverQuest: The Shadows of
Luclin(tm) scheduled for release this December.
For one magical medieval day, EverQuest fans will have the opportunity to
venture forth from the utterly engrossing, almost real universe they create
behind their keyboards to face their online friends. This meeting of
virtual and reality will take place in a 14th century castle, 60 km
outside of Paris on Saturday, September 15, 2001. Over twelve hundred
gamers are expected to participate in an all day EverQuest extravaganza,
including a massive treasure hunt and other game-based activities on the castle
grounds. Guests at the Fan Faire will be treated to a medieval market place with
live demonstrations by artisans and guilds, a copious banquet in the style of
the period, and musicians to lend a musical atmosphere throughout the day. In
addition, EverQuest game developers will be on hand to answer questions,
trade tips, and share stories. Registration is 85 USD and scheduled to begin
on July 27th, 2001 on http://everquest.station.sony.com/fanfaire/
.
EverQuest, a massively multiplayer online game, was originally
launched in 1999 and boasts today over 400,000 active subscribers from around
the world. Continuing to grow with top-selling expansions The Ruins of Kunark
and The Scars of Velious, EverQuest proves to be the largest 3D
fantasy world ever created online. During peak periods, more than 96,000
adventurers and dragon slayers have explored the world of Norrath
simultaneously. The active global EverQuest subscriber base is comprised
of players from various countries throughout the "real" world,
including the U.S., England, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Saudi Arabia, France,
