While Ubisoft pushes along the production of the Assassin's Creed film starring Michael Fassbender, which is due to release December 21st, the game developer and publisher have set their sites on turning another game into a movie.
Tom Clancy's The Division will be hitting the big screen with Jake Gyllenhaal (Southpaw, Nightcrawler) and Jessica Chastain (The Martian, Interstellar) taking up the lead roles. You probably remember the last time that Mr. Gyllenhaal stepped into a Ubisoft game move, it might be something you want to forget, but there's no denying that Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time happened.
There's no release date for the Division film, but Ubisoft did remind us of a couple other game adaptations in the works: Splinter Cell starring Tom Hardy, Ghost Recon, Watch Dogs, and Rabbids.
It makes sense that Ubisoft is looking to push The Division into a movie, it sold more copies in its first 24 hours than any other Ubisoft game ever had. If lightning strikes once, it's got to strike again in the same spot… right?
