Ubisoft is a big company, but apparently working for it doesn't guarantee career stability. Ubisoft's Casablanca branch will be closing down according to Jean-Michel Detoc, the Executive Director of Ubisoft Mobile.
He said:
"Ubisoft Casablanca has been part of Ubisoft for 18 years, and contributed to a lot of memorable games over the years, especially on portable consoles. Unfortunately, as the video game market evolved in the past few years, we didn’t find a sustainable formula for the studio within our broader network. We thank the Casablanca team for their hard work throughout the years."
Ubisoft Casablanca is primarily known for their work on the company's mobile games, the most notable of which is Rayman Fiesta Run. Rayman Fiesta Run has resonated well on both the iOS and Android markets with both versions carrying user ratings of 4.5 out of 5 stars on their respective stores. The studio also contributed to Rayman Legends, Child of Light, and Valiant Hearts: The Great War.
Employees at Ubisoft Casablanca were notified of the closure just last week and the company has said that they will offer transfer and relocation assistance to those affected.
