Ubisoft confirms Watch Dogs movie

Today Ubisoft announced its plans for a Watch Dogs movie based around the upcoming multiplatform action-adventure game.

The developer didn't mention a release date or any other details — like actors, a director, or plotline. The video game releases in November. It's coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U.

"Since both Sony and Ubisoft have movie and video game branches, this deal creates exceptional opportunities for us to merge the realms of the story-based cinematic experience with the interaction of the video game," said Ubisoft Motion Pictures executive Jean-Julien Baronnet.

Sony Pictures and New Regency are producing the movie. Two other Ubisoft franchises, Assassin's Creed and Splinter Cell, are also due for the big screen.
