Ubisoft confirms Watch Dogs sequel

Ubisoft released its latest financial report today, confirming some longstanding rumors in the process.  In the report, Watch Dogs 2 was verified as well as confirmation that we will not be getting a new Assassin's Creed game this year.

Ubisoft's work on a follow-up to the open-world action-adventure, which focused on hacking, had been previously expected, but now it appears official.

In detailing its line-up for the coming fiscal year, the next installment of Watch Dogs was mentioned along with a brand new AAA IP. A few other already confirmed games were included, such as For Honor, South Park the Fractured but Whole, and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands.

We don't know the details of the new title, but Ubisoft describes it as a "new high-potential AAA brand with strong digital live services."

No word on whether the Watch Dogs sequel will star Aiden Pierce, but rumblings are that it will be a new character based in San Francisco. We'll let you know as we hear more. According to the report, the game is slated to arrive by the end of Ubisoft's next financial year, which runs through April 30, 2017.
