Ubisoft Singapore is hard at work on Ubisoft's biggest console and PC experience.
Ubisoft Singapore was founded in 2008 and has both worked on their own games, as well as played vital roles in other big Ubisoft titles. Speaking at GDC the managing director for Ubisoft’s Singapore and Southeast Asia, Olivier de Rotalier, said (via Gamespot):
“We’ve been very happy to be involved in many titles. We’ve built two main expertise in Singapore: one in AAA games, the other in PC online with Ghost Recon: Phantoms. We’ve built 10 AAA games in seven years. And now our studio is leading one of the biggest Ubisoft projects on console and PC.”
The studio was deeply involved with the making of the naval combat in Assassin's Creed 3 and played a vital part in the development of Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag and Assassin's Creed Rouge, so this branch of Ubisoft might be young but they know what they are doing.
Ubisoft has yet to reveal what type of game Ubisoft Singapore is making, if it is a game in an existing franchise like Assassin's Creed or a completely new IP. If the past could offer us any clues on what they might be making then I personally guess that someone will leak what they are developing in a few months.
In other news, Ubisoft is expanding in Asia with a studio in the Philippines, the first major studio in the nation. Some of the Filipino developers from the Singapore studio will transfer to this new studio "to bring the Ubisoft knowhow, methodology, and knowledge to the studio" according to de Rotalier. Ubisoft plans to have about 50 developers at the Philippines at the end of 2016 and then grow to around 200.
