It looks like Ubisoft isn't planning on making Assassin's Creed 3 or Assassin's Creed Rogue backward compatible any time soon.
The Assassin's Creed series has seen yearly additions to the franchise up until this year. We didn't get a new Assassin's Creed this year and might not next year either, but at we have been teased that the new game is "looking good."
With Assassin's Creed taking a break this year, it appears as though the thirst for the series has grown.
Ubisoft celebrated their 30th-anniversary by making a number of their games free over the last few months. The last game to become free was Assassin's Creed 3 and the announcement brought out fans requesting Ubisoft work on backward compatibility.
Unfortunately, Ubisoft shot fan dreams down in one tweet.

Ubisoft has already tested the waters with remasters in their recently released Ezio Collection, so while their tweet says no BC versions… it doesn't exactly say no remasters.
