Last week, a Watch Dogs 2 player found a female NPC that had some 'explicit' renderings. That player, finding it humorous, shared the picture on via PS4 and got banned from PSN for a month. At the time of the incident, Ubisoft released a statement on the explicit NPC model, saying that they would "update this NPC model to make it more consistent with other NPC models in the game."
While plenty of other female and male NPCs are nude in the game, that one was just too nude to be kept in the game as it was. Ubisoft has officially patched out that character's naughty bits and made it just like the rest of the nude people in the game – which is apparently sexless like Barbie and Ken.
The NPC's update, as per Ubisoft's wording:
- [XB1/PS4] [Bug / Glitch] Explicit NPC Model – We've updated one NPC model that was previously explicit. Nudity on other male and female NPCs has not been changed
In addition to that one NPC being tweaked, Ubisoft also changed the following features of Watch Dogs 2:
- [XB1/PS4] [Bug / Glitch] Emote Wheel Swap – Bug where emotes and weapon wheel become intermixed is now fixed
- [XB1/PS4] [Bug / Glitch] Phone App Disappears – Some players encountered a bug causing their phone apps to disappear. The fix will recover the missing apps
- [XB1/PS4] [Performance] Graphics / Low FPS / Nudle – Framerate during the “Limp Nudle” mission has been improved
- [PS4] [Performance] Graphics / Low FPS / PRO – PS4 Pro performance should be improved with this patch
Sony might want to consider making M-rated games get an age gate for PS4 Share images on PSN. A ban is a bit silly for sharing an image from an M-rated game that contains plenty of nudity as is. Plus, GTA V hasn't seen bans for images of bangers, beans, and mash (as far as I know).
