Ubisoft interested in adding PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds-like modes to their games

Rainbow Six: Battlegrounds?

There's been one game that's been taking the world by storm in 2017: PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. 100 players are dropped on to one large island filled with homes and buildings filled with goodies for you to raid, the game constantly pushes players towards the center by periodically dropping bombs in certain areas and by killing players outside of a certain proximity which gets smaller throughout the match. The goal of the game is to be the last man standing and to take down any player that you come across. While it takes lots of inspiration from H1Z1's King of the Kill, players have fallen in love with PUBG for just how good it is.

The PC exclusive game is even getting a console debut on Xbox One later this year will it make even more money and gain even more fans. Even though PUBG is still fairly new, that hasn't stopped other big companies from thinking about taking notes from it.

During an investor's call today, someone asked Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot if PUBG has taken a chunk of Rainbow Six Siege's hardcore player base and if they plan on investing in the "Battle Royale" genre.

"[Battlegrounds] is doing a fantastic job," Guillemot said. "Rainbow Six continues to grow, and the time spent on the game is increasing, so we didn't see any competition from that game. But we look at what those guys are doing, and it's a type of gameplay that is very interesting and that maybe is something you'll see in some of the DLCs we do on some of our games in the future."
