Ubisoft looking to punish The Division’s Falcon Lost exploiters

The Falcon Lost exploit in The Division has already been fixed, but Ubisoft still "looking into what can be done in terms of punishment."

Yep, Ubisoft is looking to actually punish those who used the Falcon Lost exploit since it breached the Code of Conduct, something that has stirred up the community.

On the official Ubisoft forums one of the community managers said "We are working on fixing the exploit. Obviously it is against our Code of Conduct and the team is looking into what can be done in terms of punishment for those who have exploited".

The Division's community appears to be upset over Ubisoft's search to punish exploiters. Some say that Ubisoft is focusing on the wrong players to punis, taking down those who used an exploit and not going after hackers. Others are saying that this is on Massive/ Ubisoft since it was they who programmed in the possibility to use the exploit and didn't test it enough to see that their game worked.

One user on the forum said "You know what else is against the code of conduct? Hacking. Played against a hacker last night that was reported over a week ago with video evidence."

Another had this to say "I'm reading that you consider your faulty code to be on US, as players?"

On Reddit there have been more than a few arguments towards why this isn't the players fault, one of the being "We bought your game and our only responsibility when we boot it up is to play within its confines. We have no obligation to decide where the line between "smart play" and "abuse of mechanics" is drawn.". That particular comment goes on for a bit and in detail explains why this is all on Massive and Ubisoft and not the players.

Some even pointed out that Ubisoft's own community managers has been using various exploits on streams without punishment.

When it comes down to it, Ubisoft has the right to punish exploiters and anyone else who they think breached the Code of Conduct, but is it really the right thing to do in this case?
