Ubisoft promises Wii U titles and ‘surprise announcements’ at E3 press conference

Ubisoft's E3 press conference promises all kinds of surprises.  In an announcement today, Ubisoft confirmed the invitation-only press conference, set to take place on June 4, will feature demonstrations and trailers of the company's upcoming lineup of franchise hits, including games for the new Nintendo Wii, as well as digital titles, special guests, and surprise announcements.

“This year’s E3 promises to be one of our biggest and best yet,” said Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot. “We’re showcasing the strongest, most competitive collection of core titles we’ve had in years, innovative new games for new platforms and a broad lineup that has something for everyone.”

Ubisoft will be showing off the highly anticipated Assassin's Creed 3, Far Cry 3, Rayman Legends (hopefully the Wii U version?), Rocksmith, and many more titles.

For those of you unable to attend the press conference, you can tune in live on YouTube and participate in a live Q&A.  For the first time ever, Ubisoft is inviting gamers to ask questions to its teams on Uplay, Ubisoft's online service.  The best questions will be selected and answered during the press conference.

With Nintendo hoping to make a big splash at E3, and Ubisoft aiming to become the platform's leading third party games publisher, I'd expect much of the Ubisoft press conference to center around their Wii U titles.  Hopefully they show us some Assassin's Creed 3 footage, along with how they plan to use the Wii U's innovative tablet technology to enhance their gameplay.

Last month we uncovered a sneak trailer showcasing Ubisoft's popular platformer Rayman Legends on the Wii U, along with some sort of NFC technology utilizing figurines with the game.  Maybe we'll see more of that at E3?
